A DESSERT PARTY is always hosted at the home of a neighbor. Other neighbors bring their favorite desserts (homemade or store bought) and we all share a couple of hours of camaraderie and conversation.
ADULT SOCIAL is an adults and residents only affair that is usually held on a cul-de sac or dead end street in the neighborhood. This is a full-catered buffet style dinner, preceded by a cocktail hour. The highlight of the evening is a neighborhood raffle to raise funds for children's party, which usually involves great prizes like dinners for 2 at local restaurants, or tickets to Bluefish, Yankee and Mets baseball games. Fun, gag prizes brought by neighbors add a lot of laughs and levity to the evening.
CHILDREN'S PARTIES are usually held annually to let the kids get into the neighborhood spirit. Pool parties during the summer season have been drawing crowds of youngsters and their parents in the last couple of years. Although in years past, we have had ice skating parties and bowling parties as well.
Last weekend, in conjunction with the city's "GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN-UP" a dumpster was placed on Hubbard Ave for any residents to use to help clean up their basements, garages, attics, yards, ect. This is usually an annual event HHA participates in.
In addition, the HHA has an ANNUAL MEETING open to all neighbors to elect a board of directors, and to address questions and concerns of residents. Everything from traffic, to safety is discussed.
The HHA has an ongoing relationship with the STAMFORD HOSPITAL, our neighbor on our southern boundary. We had a CHRISTMAS CAROLING event at the Hospice last winters, and it was enjoyed by all who participated.
Hubbard Heights is a lovely community that makes neighbors feel welcome, and welcomes the involvement of all, young and old. I hope this helps.
